Evidence trail: Apple Support — Add, delete, or move PDF pages in Preview on Mac
You can delete unwanted PDF pages for free without installing an editor or creating an account. Open **Avalon Delete PDF Pages**, choose your PDF, press the × control beneath any page you want to remove, then select **Save PDF** and **Download**. The result is a new document containing the pages you kept. Your original PDF stays unchanged.
This is useful when a scan has an empty sheet, a report includes an outdated cover, or a combined document contains a duplicate. Avalon describes this tool as running in your browser, so the PDF is processed on your device rather than sent to its server. You still need to check the finished file before sharing it.
Delete unwanted PDF pages step by step
### 1. Choose your PDF
Open **Avalon Delete PDF Pages** and drag a PDF into the file area, or click to select it from your device. The tool displays page previews. On the free version, you work with one PDF at a time, so finish and download the current document before starting another.

If you are unsure which version is the original, make a clearly named backup first. Removing pages is simple; sending the wrong version is harder to undo.
### 2. Identify the pages to remove
Scroll through the thumbnails and compare them with the full document. Look for unwanted cover sheets, blank scan backs, duplicated pages, or material that does not belong in the copy you intend to share.
Do not rely only on a handwritten list of page numbers. After you delete a page, later pages move forward in the preview. Check the content of each thumbnail before clicking, particularly when similar-looking forms appear throughout a document.
### 3. Remove pages using the × control
Press **×** beneath a page you do not want. Repeat for other unwanted pages. The remaining previews close the gaps so you can inspect the new sequence.
Changed your mind? Choose **Undo all changes** to restore the initial set of pages and make your selections again. You can also turn pages that face the wrong direction before saving, although removing pages and rotating pages solve different problems.
### 4. Save and inspect the new PDF
Select **Save PDF**, then **Download**. Open the downloaded copy in a PDF viewer before emailing, uploading, or printing it.
Check that the first and last pages are correct, the page order still makes sense, and no necessary attachment page or signature sheet has disappeared. Keep the original file until the recipient has accepted the revised version.
Common mistakes and limits
**Mistake: deleting a page when you only need to hide a detail.** Page deletion removes the whole page. If the information you must remove is a name, account number, or other detail on a page you need to keep, use a proper **Redact PDF** tool instead. Drawing a black rectangle over text is not a reliable substitute for removing the underlying content.
**Mistake: deleting most of a long document to keep a few pages.** If you want only selected pages, **Extract PDF Pages** is a better fit: specify the pages you want to keep. If the goal is to divide the document into separate files, choose **Split PDF** instead. These are different tasks, even though they can all make a shorter document.

There are limits. The free page-deletion tool handles one PDF at a time and has a file-size cap shown on its page. It also cannot remove the final remaining page: a PDF must still contain a page. If editing fails on a restricted document, check its permissions rather than assuming every PDF can be changed.
Adobe Acrobat Help's *Delete pages in PDFs* specifically advises checking the document's security settings before editing.
A free alternative on Mac
You may not need a web tool if you already use a Mac. Apple Support's *Add, delete, or move PDF pages in Preview on Mac* explains how to open a PDF in Preview, choose **View > Thumbnails**, select the unwanted pages, and press **Delete**. Save a separate copy if you want to preserve the original.
Apple also notes that annotations on deleted pages disappear with those pages.
For occasional cleanup on any device with a supported browser, the visual removal method remains straightforward: choose, preview, remove, save, verify. From maintaining a free page-removal tool, we have learned that seeing exactly what will be kept matters more than offering a long list of editing controls.
The final inspection is part of the job, not an optional extra.
