What we tested

On 2026-11-06, we ran 19 test cases on the free tier in desktop Chromium. All 19 passed.

The tests covered an iPhone HEIC photo, other image formats, unusual file names, damaged files and batch limits. The iPhone HEIC photo converted from 15.8 KB to a 30.9 KB JPG.

What happened with difficult files

A PDF renamed to look like an image and an empty image file produced the message: โ€œThis file could not be read as an image.โ€ Neither produced a JPG.

A cut-off JPEG produced a JPG. A photo rotated by EXIF data also produced a JPG, but the test record does not describe its appearance.

Free limits and when to choose another option

The free version accepts up to 30 images per batch. In our test, 30 images were ready; when we added 31, the tool said: โ€œOnly 30 images fit in one batch, so 1 more was not added. Convert these first, then add the rest.โ€

This tool is not the right choice if you need the JPG to retain GPS location, camera details or the date taken. The tool page says those details are not copied into the new file.

We re-run these tests when the tool changes. Results describe this tool on the date shown.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q. Are my photos uploaded to a server?

The tool page says photos are decoded and saved as JPG inside your browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to its servers.

Q. Will converting a HEIC make the file smaller?

Not always. In our test, the iPhone HEIC photo went from 15.8 KB to a 30.9 KB JPG.

Q. Can I convert HEIC photos on my phone?

Yes. Open the tool page in your phone's browser, tap the box to choose photos, and download the JPGs.
