How to convert your logo to SVG step by step
Drop your PNG or JPG logo into the converter in your browser.
Pick a style and set the number of colors your logo actually uses. Most simple logos trace best at 2 to 4 colors.
Tick Remove the background color if you want to drop the corner background color. If your PNG already has transparent sections, those areas stay empty automatically.
Download your converted SVG. The vector graphic stays sharp at any size and opens directly in vector design apps.
How we tested the converter
We ran our benchmark on 2026-11-04 using desktop Chromium under the free tier.
The test suite included 19 distinct test cases covering common image formats, irregular file names, dimension extremes, and upload boundaries.
All 19 test cases passed. The tool traced transparent PNGs, 16-bit PNGs, WebP files, BMP images, animated GIFs, and CMYK JPEGs, processing dimensions from 1 × 1 px up to 8000 × 6000 px.
Handling difficult and unsupported files
The converter accepted unusual file names without errors, including names with emojis, extra spaces, very long strings, and Korean or Japanese characters. It also correctly oriented a photo rotated by EXIF data.
When an unsupported iPhone HEIC photo was uploaded, the tool skipped it and displayed: "1 file(s) skipped: choose PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF or BMP images. To turn an SVG into a PNG, switch to "SVG to PNG"."
Corrupted or non-image files did not break the page. Uploading a 0-byte file, a truncated JPEG, or a renamed PDF produced the warning: "This image could not be read. Try saving it again as PNG or JPG."
Free limits and when to avoid SVG tracing
The free tier caps conversion batches at 2 files at once, with a 30 MB file size limit per image. Submitting 3 files triggered the prompt: "Only 2 files fit in one batch. Convert these first, press Clear, then add the rest."
Large graphics are automatically scaled down to between 1,200 and 2,000 pixels on their longest side during tracing to maintain speed.
Tracing converts color groups into flat geometric shapes, which works well for logos, icons, clip art, and line drawings. It is not suitable for photographs with millions of shades, as photos come out looking posterized like a painting.
We re-run these tests when the tool changes. Results describe this tool on the date shown.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q. Are my logo images uploaded to a remote server?
No. Both tracing and drawing happen inside your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to external servers or anyone else.
Q. How many colors should I choose for a logo conversion?
Use the number of colors your image really has. A two-color logo traces best at 2 to 4 colors, whereas selecting more colors creates larger files with unnecessary small shapes.
Q. How many files can I convert at the same time for free?
You can convert up to 2 files at once on the free tier, with each image allowed up to 30 MB.
