Free PNG to SVG Converter: Logo to Vector, No Sign-Up

Last updated By Avalon

Trace a PNG or JPG logo or icon into a scalable SVG vector, or export an SVG as a sharp PNG at any size.

Your images never leave your device. Everything is converted in your browser, so nothing is uploaded to a server.

    What this tool does

To turn a PNG logo into an SVG vector for free, drop it above, pick the number of colors and download the traced SVG, with no sign-up and no watermark. It works in both directions. PNG / JPG to SVG traces a raster image into vector shapes, so a logo or icon stays crisp at any size and can be edited in vector apps. SVG to PNG draws an SVG as a PNG image at the exact size you need, for places that do not accept SVG, such as many social networks and marketplaces.

    How to use it

    1. Choose PNG / JPG to SVG or SVG to PNG. If you just drop files in, the tool picks the right one for you.
    2. Drop your files into the box above, or click it to choose them.
    3. For tracing, pick a style and the number of colors. For SVG to PNG, pick a scale or type a width, and a background.
    4. Press Convert. The original and the result appear side by side so you can compare them.
    5. Download each file, or press Download all. Not happy with the trace? Change the style or colors and convert again.

    Tips for better results

    • Start from the largest, cleanest copy of your image you have. Blurry edges and JPG noise become wobbly shapes.
    • Crop away anything you do not want in the SVG before tracing.
    • For a logo on a white background, tick Remove the background color to get a transparent SVG.
    • If small specks show up, lower the number of colors. If parts of the image merge together, raise it.
    • Need a PNG in a different size or format afterwards? Use our free image resizer or image converter.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a logo to a vector file for free?

Drop the PNG or JPG logo above, choose a style and the number of colors the logo really has (2 to 4 for most logos) and download the SVG. It stays sharp at any size and opens in vector apps.

Will the SVG look exactly like my PNG?

Close, but not pixel for pixel. Tracing turns the image into flat-color shapes, so simple logos and icons convert cleanly while photos come out looking like a painting.

    Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The tracing and the drawing both happen inside your browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to our servers or anyone else.

What is the difference between PNG and SVG?

A PNG is a grid of pixels, so it gets blurry when you make it bigger. An SVG describes shapes and colors, so it stays sharp at any size, from a favicon to a billboard, and it can be edited in vector apps.

Why does my photo look like a painting after converting?

Tracing turns areas of similar color into flat shapes. That suits logos, icons, line art and clip art. Photos have millions of shades, so they come out posterized. Use the Detailed style and more colors to get closer, but a photo is usually best kept as JPG or PNG.

How many colors should I choose?

Use the number of colors your image really has. A two-color logo traces best at 2 to 4 colors. Illustrations usually look right at 8 to 24. More colors mean a bigger file and more small shapes.

Can I make the background transparent?

Tick Remove the background color. The tool drops the color found in the corners of the image, which is usually the background. If your PNG is already transparent, the transparent parts stay empty without ticking anything.

What size will my PNG be when I convert an SVG?

By default it is twice the size written in the SVG, which looks sharp on phones and high-resolution screens. Type a width in pixels to get an exact size; the height follows the shape of the SVG.

    Are there limits?

Up to 20 files at once and 30 MB per image. Large images are scaled down for tracing (up to 1,200 to 2,000 pixels on the long side, depending on the style) to keep it quick. Everything is free.
