Free Split PDF: Extract Pages or Split Every Page

Last updated By Avalon

Split a PDF by page ranges, pull out single pages, or save every page as its own PDF.

Your files never leave your device. Everything is processed in your browser, so nothing is uploaded to a server.

      What this tool does

To split a PDF for free, drop it above, type the pages you want and press Split PDFs: each range comes out as its own PDF, with no sign-up and no watermark. You can pull out a single page, cut a long file into chapters, or save every page as a separate PDF.

      How to use it

      1. Drop your PDF into the box above, or click it to choose it. With Avalon Pro you can add many PDFs at once and the same split is applied to each.
      2. Under How to split, choose By page ranges and type something like 1-3, 5, or choose Every page as its own PDF.
      3. Press Split PDFs. The new files appear under Your files, each with the pages it holds.
      4. Download each file, or press Download all.

      Frequently asked questions

How do I split a PDF for free?

Drop the PDF above, type the pages you want, for example 1-3, 5, and press Split PDFs. Each range becomes its own PDF that you can download right away, with no sign-up and no watermark.

How do I extract one page from a PDF?

Type just that page number, for example 4, and press Split PDFs. You get a one-page PDF with only that page.

How do I save every page as a separate PDF?

Under How to split, choose Every page as its own PDF and press Split PDFs. A 12-page file gives you 12 single-page PDFs.

How do I write page ranges?

Separate ranges with commas. 1-3 means pages 1 to 3, 5 means page 5 only, and 8- means page 8 to the end. Each range becomes its own PDF, so "1-3, 5" gives you two files.

      Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?

No. The PDF is read and split inside your browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to our servers or anyone else, so it is safe for contracts, statements and other private documents.

      Does splitting lower the quality?

No. Pages are copied as they are, so text stays sharp and searchable and images are not compressed again.

Can I split several PDFs at once?

With Avalon Pro, yes: add up to 500 PDFs and the same ranges are applied to each file, which is handy for pulling the first page out of a stack of invoices. The free version splits one PDF at a time.

Can I split a locked or protected PDF?

Not directly. Unlock the file in your PDF reader, save an unlocked copy, and split that copy.

      Are there limits?

The free version splits one PDF of up to 150 MB at a time, with every split option. Avalon Pro takes up to 500 PDFs and 300 MB at once, numbers the pages of every new PDF, and adds a ZIP download, saved presets and your own file names.
