What this tool does

It makes a clean, professional invoice from a simple form: your business and logo, your client, the items with quantity and rate, a discount, tax or VAT, notes and payment details. The invoice updates as you type. Download it as a PDF to email, or print it.

How to make an invoice

  1. Fill in From with your business details and add your logo if you have one.
  2. Fill in Bill to with your client's name and address.
  3. Check the invoice number, issue date, payment terms and currency.
  4. Replace the sample line with your items: description, quantity and rate. Press Add item for more lines.
  5. Add a discount or tax rate if you need them, and how you would like to be paid.
  6. Press Download PDF or Print.

Tips for getting paid faster

  • Send the invoice as soon as the work is done, and give every invoice its own number.
  • Put clear payment details on the invoice: bank details, a payment link or both.
  • Use a short due date (Net 7 or Net 14) unless you agreed something else.
  • Keep a copy of every invoice you send for your records and taxes.

Frequently asked questions

Is this invoice generator really free?

Yes. Make and download as many invoices as you like, with your logo and no watermark, without an account. Avalon Pro adds saved business details and clients, automatic invoice numbers and a CSV list of the invoices you issue.

What should an invoice include?

Usually: the word Invoice, a unique invoice number, the issue date and due date, your business name and contact details, your client's name and address, each item with quantity, rate and amount, the subtotal, any discount and tax, and the total due, plus how to pay. Some countries also require your tax or VAT number; check the rules where you work.

How is the tax calculated?

Tax is calculated on the subtotal after the discount, then rounded to the cent (or to the whole unit for currencies such as the yen and the won). Each line amount is also rounded to the cent, so the totals on the invoice always add up exactly.

Who can I send an invoice to?

Use it to bill for your own work and your own sales: a client you did work for, or a customer who bought from you. Do not use it to create invoices or receipts for purchases you did not make.

Can I write in other languages?

The on-screen invoice and Print work with any language. The downloaded PDF keeps them too: Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Hindi and other Indian scripts, Arabic, Hebrew, Thai, Cyrillic, Greek, symbols and emoji are all supported. If a rare character still cannot be drawn, the tool tells you and you can use Print, then Save as PDF, to keep it.

What do Net 14 and Net 30 mean?

They are payment terms: the client should pay within 14 or 30 days of the issue date. The due date is filled in for you, or choose Pick a due date to set your own.

Is my information stored or sent anywhere?

No. The invoice is made in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. With Avalon Pro, your saved details, clients and invoice list are kept in this browser on this device only.

What does Avalon Pro add?

Your business details and logo saved and filled in automatically, a list of saved clients, automatic invoice numbers that move on after each invoice you issue, and a CSV export of every invoice you downloaded or printed (number, dates, client, currency and totals) for your bookkeeping.
