Free QR Code Generator: No Sign-Up, Never Expires

Last updated By Avalon

Make QR codes for links, Wi-Fi, email, phone or text.

Fill in the fields and your QR code appears here.

What you type never leaves your device: the code is drawn in your browser. It is a static code, so it never expires, does not pass through any redirect service, and scans are not counted or tracked.

What this tool does

This free QR code generator makes static codes that keep working forever: type a link or Wi-Fi details, download a PNG or SVG, with no sign-up and no trial that runs out. It turns a website link, a piece of text, a Wi-Fi login, an email or a phone number into a QR code you can print or share. You choose the size, colors and error correction level, and download a PNG image or an SVG file for print.

How to use it

  1. Choose what the code should open: Website link, Text, Wi-Fi, Email or Phone.
  2. Fill in the fields. The code updates as you type.
  3. Pick a Size, Error correction level and colors if you like.
  4. Press Download PNG or Download SVG.
  5. Test it with your phone camera before you print it.

Tips for codes that scan every time

  • Print the code at least 2 cm (about 0.8 inch) wide, and bigger if people scan it from a distance.
  • Leave the white border around the code. It helps the camera find the edges.
  • Shorter content makes a simpler, easier-to-read code. Use a short link where you can.
  • Always scan a printed proof with two different phones before printing many copies.

Frequently asked questions

Is this QR code generator really free, or is it a trial?

It is free, not a trial. The codes are static: the link or text is stored in the pattern itself, so there is no account, subscription or redirect server that could stop the code from working later.

How do I make a QR code for Wi-Fi?

Choose Wi-Fi, type the network name and Wi-Fi key exactly as they are, pick the security type and download the code. Guests scan it with the phone camera and join without typing the key.

Do these QR codes expire?

No. They are static codes: the link or text is stored inside the pattern itself, so the code keeps working for as long as the link it points to works. Nothing passes through a redirect service that could be switched off.

Can I see how many people scanned my code?

No, and that is on purpose. Counting scans needs a tracking redirect between the code and your link. These codes go straight to your link, so scans are private.

Is what I type sent anywhere?

No. The code is created in your browser on your own device, including your Wi-Fi key.

PNG or SVG?

PNG works everywhere: documents, slides, social posts. SVG stays perfectly sharp at any size, so it is the better choice for print, signs and design tools.

Which error correction level should I use?

Medium suits most uses. Choose High or Highest if the code will be printed small, on a rough surface, or may get scratched. Higher levels add more dots, so very long text may need Low to fit.

Can I change the colors?

Yes. Keep the code dark and the background light with strong contrast. Light codes on dark backgrounds and pale colors are not read by every phone, and the tool warns you when contrast is low.

How does the Wi-Fi code work?

Phone cameras on iPhone and Android recognise the Wi-Fi format and offer to join the network, so guests do not need to type the Wi-Fi key. The network name and key must match exactly, including capital letters.
