Free Sign PDF: Add Your Signature, No Sign-Up
Draw, type or upload your signature, add text and the date, and drag them onto your PDF.
Your file
Your file never leaves your device. Everything is processed in your browser, so nothing is uploaded to a server.
What this tool does
To sign a PDF for free, drop it above, draw or type your signature, drag it into place and save a signed copy, with no sign-up, no printing and no watermark. It lets you fill in and sign a PDF without printing it. You can add:
- Your signature, drawn with your mouse, finger or pen, typed in a handwriting style, or uploaded as a photo or scan.
- Text, such as your name, address or initials.
- The date, in the format you choose.
Drag each item to where it belongs on the page and resize it with the corner handle. When you save, everything is drawn onto the pages of a new PDF, so it looks the same in every PDF reader. Your original file is not changed.
How to use it
- Drop a PDF into the box above, or click it to choose one. The pages appear below.
- Choose what to add: Draw signature, Type signature, Signature image, Text or Date.
- Press Add here above the page you want (or tap the page, then press Add to page).
- Drag the item into place. Pull the round handle to resize it, or press × to remove it.
- Press Save signed PDF, then Download.
Tips
- Sign on the pad a little larger than you need. You can shrink it on the page and it stays sharp.
- Blue ink makes it easy to tell a signed copy from a photocopy.
- Filling a form with many fields? Add each answer as a separate text item so you can line it up with its box.
- Need to remove a page or fix the page order before signing? Use our free organize PDF tool. Signed file too large to email? Try our free compress PDF tool.

Frequently asked questions
Can I sign a PDF for free without creating an account?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no limit on the number of signatures, text boxes or dates, and nothing is stamped on your document except what you add.
Is my PDF or my signature uploaded anywhere?
No. The PDF is opened and saved inside your browser, on your own device, and your signature never leaves it. Nothing is sent to our servers or anyone else. The tool does not keep your signature after you close the page.
Is this a legally binding digital signature?
It is a simple visual signature: a picture of your signature placed on the page, like signing a printout and scanning it. It is not a certified digital signature with a certificate that proves who signed and that the file was not changed afterwards. Many everyday forms, letters and agreements accept a visual signature, but some contracts, government forms and regulated documents require a certified one. If you are unsure, ask the person or office that asked you to sign.
How do I sign on a phone?
Choose Draw signature and sign on the pad with your finger. Scroll to the page and press Add here above it, then drag the signature into place and pull the round corner handle to make it bigger or smaller.
How do I put the signature on another page?
Press Add here above that page, or tap the page and then press Add to page. Each new item goes on the page you chose.
Can I change something after saving?
Yes, as long as the page is still open. Move, resize or remove items and press Save signed PDF again. Once saved, the signature, text and date are part of the page and can no longer be moved in other apps.
Why is my uploaded signature on a white box?
Turn on Make the white background see-through before adding the picture. It works best with a dark signature on white paper, photographed in good light.
Can I sign a locked or protected PDF?
Not directly. Unlock it in your PDF reader, save an unlocked copy, and sign that copy.
Are there limits?
One PDF at a time, up to 100 MB, with as many signatures, text and dates as you need. Everything is free.
