Free Watermark PDF: Add Text or a Logo to Every Page

Last updated By Avalon

Stamp CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, your name or your logo on a PDF, across the middle, tiled or along an edge, with the opacity you choose.

Size is the watermark's width as a share of the page width. Leave Pages empty to mark every page.

Free, no sign-up, and the only watermark is yours. The PDF stays on your device: nothing is uploaded.

      What this tool does

To add a watermark to a PDF for free, drop it above, type your text or choose your logo and press Add watermark: every page is stamped, with no sign-up and nothing uploaded. Use it to mark drafts and confidential copies, to put your name on a portfolio or a quote, or to brand a document you send to clients.

      How to use it

      1. Drop your PDF into the box above, or click it to choose it.
      2. Under Watermark, choose Text and type it, or Image (your logo) and pick the image.
      3. Choose the Position, Size and Opacity. A low opacity, such as 20 to 30 percent, keeps the page readable.
      4. Optionally type which Pages to mark.
      5. Press Add watermark, then Download PDF.

      Tips

      • Mark the final version: add the watermark after merging and reordering pages.
      • To make the watermark part of the page so it is harder to take out, run the watermarked PDF through our free flatten PDF tool with Every page into a picture.
      • Watermarking images instead? Our free image resizer adds a watermark to a batch of photos with Avalon Pro.

      Frequently asked questions

How do I add a watermark to a PDF for free?

Drop the PDF above, type the text (for example CONFIDENTIAL) or choose your logo, pick the position, size and opacity, and press Add watermark. Every page gets the watermark, with no sign-up and no other watermark added by us.

Can I use my logo as the watermark?

Yes. Choose Image (your logo) and pick a PNG, JPG or WebP file. A PNG with a transparent background looks best.

Can I watermark only some pages?

Yes. Type the pages under Pages, for example 1 or 2-5. Leave it empty to mark every page.

Does the watermark work in other languages?

Yes. The text is drawn with your device's own fonts, so Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Hindi and other scripts come out right.

      Can someone remove the watermark?

A watermark is a picture added on top of each page. It shows in every reader and when printed, but like any PDF watermark it can be removed with editing software. For private details that must not be seen at all, use our free redact PDF tool.

      Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?

No. The watermark is added inside your browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to our servers.

      Are there limits?

The free version watermarks one PDF of up to 100 MB at a time, with text or a logo and every position. Avalon Pro puts the same watermark on up to 50 PDFs (500 MB) in one go, with a ZIP download, saved presets and your own file names.
