Free Merge PDF: Combine & Split PDFs, No Sign-Up
Combine PDFs into one file in any order, or split pages out by range.
Everything you already do here stays free, with the same limits.
Your files
Your files never leave your device. Everything is processed in your browser, so nothing is uploaded to a server.
What this tool does
To merge PDF files for free, drop them above, put them in order with the arrows and press Merge PDFs: you get one combined PDF with no sign-up and no watermark. It does the two things people most often need with PDFs. Merge PDFs joins several files into one, in the order you set. Split or extract pages pulls out the pages you want, either as ranges you type or as one PDF per page.
How to use it
- Choose Merge PDFs or Split or extract pages.
- Drop your PDFs into the box above, or click it to choose them.
- To merge, use the arrows to put the files in order. To split, choose By page ranges and type something like
1-3, 5, or choose Every page as its own PDF. - Press Merge PDFs or Split PDFs. Each file shows its progress, and the results appear under Your files.
- Download each file, or press Download all.
Page range examples
| You type | You get |
|---|---|
1-3 | One PDF with pages 1, 2 and 3 |
1-3, 5 | Two PDFs: pages 1 to 3, and page 5 |
4 | One PDF with only page 4 |
10- | One PDF from page 10 to the end |
1, 2, 3 | Three single-page PDFs |
Tips
- Merging a cover letter, a CV and certificates for an application? Add them in that order and download one tidy file.
- To remove, reorder or rotate single pages, use our free organize PDF tool. It shows every page as a thumbnail you can drag.
- Splitting applies the same ranges to every PDF in the list, which is handy for pulling the first page out of a stack of invoices.
- Want the pages as images instead? Use our free PDF to JPG converter.

Frequently asked questions
Is merging PDFs really free, with no watermark?
Yes. Merging and splitting are free with no sign-up and no daily limit, and nothing is stamped on your pages. Only page numbers and the ZIP download are part of Avalon Pro.
How do I combine PDF files into one on my phone?
Open this page in your phone's browser, tap the box to choose the PDFs, use the arrows to set the order and press Merge PDFs. The merged file downloads like any other.
Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?
No. The files are read and rebuilt inside your browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to our servers or anyone else, so it is safe for contracts, statements and other private documents.
How do I change the order of the PDFs?
After adding the files, use the up and down arrows next to each one. The number on the left shows its position in the merged PDF.
How do I write page ranges?
Separate ranges with commas. 1-3 means pages 1 to 3, 5 means page 5 only, and 8- means page 8 to the end. Each range becomes its own PDF, so "1-3, 5" gives you two files.
How do I take out a single page?
Choose Split or extract pages, type just that page number, for example 4, and press Split PDFs. To get every page separately, choose Every page as its own PDF.
Does merging lower the quality?
No. Pages are copied as they are, so text stays sharp and searchable and images are not compressed again.
Can I merge locked or protected PDFs?
Not directly. Unlock the file in your PDF reader, save an unlocked copy, and add that copy.
Can I add page numbers?
Yes, with Avalon Pro. Open Page numbers, choose the position, the format (for example Page 1 of 12) and the first number, and every new PDF is numbered when you merge or split.
Are there limits?
Up to 50 files and 100 MB per batch. Merging and splitting are free.
