What this tool does
Enter your item price, shipping and costs above to see every Etsy fee on the order and the profit left for you, using Etsy's rates as checked in October 2026. It adds up the Etsy fees on one order and shows what is left for you after your own costs: profit in money and as a margin. It covers the listing fee, the 6.5% transaction fee, payment processing by country, the regulatory operating fee where it applies and the optional Offsite Ads fee.
How to use it
- Choose the country of your shop's bank account. This sets the payment processing fee.
- Enter the item price and the shipping you charge the buyer.
- Enter what the item costs you to make and what shipping costs you.
- If the order came from an Offsite Ad, choose 15% or 12%.
- Read your profit, margin and the full fee breakdown. Everything updates as you type.
How Etsy fees add up
| Fee | Rate | Charged on |
|---|---|---|
| Listing fee | $0.20 per listing | Each listing, and again when it renews after 4 months or after a sale |
| Transaction fee | 6.5% | Item price + shipping + gift wrap |
| Payment processing (US) | 3% + $0.25 | Item price + shipping + sales tax |
| Payment processing (UK) | 4% + £0.20 | Item price + shipping + sales tax |
| Payment processing (eurozone examples) | 4% + €0.30 | Item price + shipping + sales tax |
| Offsite Ads | 15% or 12%, max $100 | Order total, only on sales from those ads |
| Regulatory operating fee | 0.48% to 1.97%, some countries | Item price + shipping |
A worked example for a US shop: a $25 item with $5 shipping is a $30 order. The fees are $0.20 listing + $1.95 transaction (6.5% × $30) + $1.15 processing (3% × $30 + $0.25) = $3.30. If the item costs you $8 to make and $4.50 to ship, your profit is $30 − $3.30 − $8 − $4.50 = $14.20, a 47.3% margin.
Tips to keep more of each sale
- Price shipping to cover postage, because Etsy takes its percentage from shipping too.
- Plan for the Offsite Ads fee in your price. A 15% fee on a thin margin can turn a sale into a loss.
- Check your Payment account each month to compare these estimates with what you actually paid.

Frequently asked questions
Does it work for a UK, Canadian, Australian or EU Etsy shop?
Yes. Choose where your shop's bank account is. The payment processing fee and, where it applies, the regulatory operating fee change with that country, and the results are shown in its currency.
How much does Etsy take from a sale?
For a US shop, Etsy charges a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price plus shipping, and a payment processing fee of 3% + $0.25. On a $25 item with $5 shipping that is $0.20 + $1.95 + $1.15 = $3.30, or 11% of the $30 order, before any Offsite Ads fee.
Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?
Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee and the payment processing fee both apply to the shipping you charge, not only the item price.
What is the Offsite Ads fee?
If a buyer clicks an Etsy ad on another website and then buys from you, Etsy charges 15% of the order total, or 12% if your shop made $10,000 or more on Etsy in the past 365 days. The fee is capped at $100 per order. You only pay it on orders that came from those ads.
Why does the processing fee change with my country?
Etsy sets the payment processing fee by the country of your bank account. For example, it is 3% + $0.25 in the US, 4% + £0.20 in the UK and 4% + €0.30 in most eurozone countries.
What is the regulatory operating fee?
Sellers in some countries pay a small extra percentage on the item price and shipping, for example 0.48% in the UK, 0.50% in Canada and 1.14% in France. The calculator adds it automatically for those countries.
Is this exactly what Etsy will charge me?
It is an estimate. VAT on seller fees, currency conversion, Etsy Ads, shipping labels and other optional services are not included. Your Payment account on Etsy shows the exact fees for each order.
