How to convert Excel to PDF
Open the Free Excel to PDF Converter and choose an XLSX or CSV file. The free version converts one file at a time.
For a designed sheet, choose High quality to keep cell colors, fonts, borders and charts. For a wide sheet, turn on Fit all columns on the page width to fit every column across the page.
Convert the file, then use the resulting PDF. On a phone, you can share or email it.
What we tested
On November 6, 2026, we tested the free version in desktop Chromium. All 12 test cases passed.
We tried spreadsheet and CSV files, unusual file names, multilingual text, invalid and empty files, and free-version limits. The High quality case was intercepted, so it does not establish how a real server conversion would look.
What happened with difficult files
Files with long names, extra spaces and emoji, and Korean and Japanese characters in their names produced PDFs. An Excel file containing Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Hindi, Thai and Russian text also produced a PDF.
The tool rejected PDF files renamed as XLSX and CSV files. It said each file was not really in the named format and suggested opening it in a spreadsheet app and saving it again as XLSX or CSV.
The empty Excel file was rejected with the message: "xlsx_zero.xlsx is empty (0 bytes), so it was not added."
Free limits and when to choose another option
The free version converts one file at a time and up to 50 PDF pages. When we chose 2 files, the tool used only the first. For a file that would produce 51 pages, it suggested picking one sheet or removing rows first.
Standard conversion makes a clean table but does not copy cell colors, fonts, drawn borders, charts, pictures or comments. Choose High quality if you need colors, fonts, borders or charts. If you need pictures or comments copied, the tool page does not say that High quality preserves them.
