How to extract PDF pages step by step

Drop your PDF into the tool. Under Pages to extract, enter the page numbers you want to keep, such as 2, 5-7.

You can set your own order by typing numbers in sequence, such as 5, 1-3. If you enter the same page number twice, the tool adds it only once.

Make sure Save as is set to extract to get a single file. Click Extract pages to save your new PDF.

How we tested the tool

We tested the free tier on 2026-11-07 using Chromium on desktop.

Our test suite covered 15 scenarios, including normal documents, unusual file names, foreign languages, and corrupted inputs.

All 15 test cases passed.

Results on difficult files and invalid inputs

The tool handled complex file names without errors. Files with very long names, extra spaces, emoji, and Korean or Japanese characters all produced a 2-page PDF of 1.8 KB.

Content edge cases also succeeded. A PDF with pages of different sizes yielded a 2-page PDF of 1.8 KB, and a PDF containing Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Hindi, Thai, and Russian text created a 2-page PDF of 42.0 KB.

Invalid or unreadable files produced no output. When tested with an empty 0-byte file, a 1-byte file, a cut-off file, a renamed JPEG, a password-protected PDF, a scanned image-only PDF, or an out-of-bounds page range, the tool reported: "Nothing was split. See the message next to each file."

Free tier limits and when not to use this tool

The free tier processes one PDF at a time up to a total batch size of 150 MB.

If you try to add more than one document, the tool stops and displays: "The free version splits one PDF at a time. Split this one, press Clear, then add the next."

If an upload exceeds 150 MB, such as a 151 MB file, the tool displays: "pdf_mb_151.pdf was not added: one batch can hold 150 MB in total. Merge these first, then merge the result with the rest."

Do not use this tool if you need to extract pages from password-protected files or scanned image-only PDFs, as neither produces output.

We re-run these tests when the tool changes. Results describe this tool on the date shown.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q. Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?

No. The PDF is read and the new one is saved inside your browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to our servers.

Q. Does extracting lower the quality of the pages?

No. Pages are copied as they are, so text stays sharp and searchable, links keep working and pictures are not compressed again.

Q. Can I change the page order while extracting?

Yes. The pages go into the new PDF in the order you type them, so 5, 1-3 puts page 5 first. A page you type twice is added only once.
