How to convert PNG to JPG step by step

Drop your PNG images into the tool. Leave the Convert to setting on JPG.

The conversion quality defaults to 90 percent. Set the quality to 95 or higher if you are converting text-heavy screenshots.

Click Convert to JPG. Download your finished JPG files one by one or all at once. The tool requires no account and leaves no watermarks.

Our testing process and setup

We tested the free tier on 2026-11-07 using Chromium on desktop. We ran 19 separate tests across normal, edge, and limit scenarios.

All 19 tests passed. The test set included typical files, transparent PNGs, 16-bit PNGs, and an 8000 × 6000 px image.

We also tested batch thresholds, non-image files, and file names with extra spaces, emojis, and Korean and Japanese characters.

How difficult and invalid files behaved

Valid images converted smoothly across all formats. An 8000 × 6000 px image shrank from 1.43 MB to 436.4 KB (70% smaller). A 2.6 KB transparent PNG converted to an 8.2 KB JPG with white background fill.

Unusual file names caused no errors. Files with very long names, extra spaces, emojis, and Korean or Japanese text all converted successfully into 19.0 KB JPG files.

Invalid files were rejected with clear notices. For both an empty 0-byte file and a renamed PDF, the tool stated: "This file could not be read as an image."

Free tier limits and when to avoid JPG

The free version is limited to 30 images per batch. When we tested 31 files, the tool warned: "Only 30 images fit in one batch, so 1 more was not added. Convert these first, then add the rest." Avalon Pro unlocks larger batches, ZIP downloads, saved presets, and custom file naming.

Do not use this tool if you need to keep transparency. JPG cannot preserve transparent areas and replaces them with solid white. Keep the original PNG or save as WebP instead.

Small graphics may also increase in file size. In our tests, an 11.6 KB file grew to 19.0 KB, and a 1 × 1 px file grew from 69 B to 762 B.

We re-run these tests when the tool changes. Results describe this tool on the date shown.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q. Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The images are converted inside your browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to our servers.

Q. What happens to transparent areas in PNG files?

JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. If you need to keep the transparent background, keep the PNG or save it as WebP instead.

Q. How many images can I convert at once for free?

You can convert up to 30 images per batch on the free tier. If you submit 31 files, the extra file is excluded until the first 30 finish.
