How to convert a PDF to Excel with no sign-up
Open the free PDF to Excel converter at https://avaloncompany.ai/tools/pdf-to-excel/. You do not need an account or an email address, and the result has no watermark.
Add one PDF. The free version converts one file at a time, up to 50 pages and 25 MB. The conversion runs in your browser, so the PDF is not sent to a server.
Check the preview. If two columns belong together, merge them. If you do not need a column or row, delete it. You can also click a cell to fix it. If many columns are split or joined, change Columns to Fewer or More and convert again.
Then choose your format. XLSX opens in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers and LibreOffice with numbers already formatted. CSV is plain text that almost any app can import. Numbers are stored as real numbers, so you can add them up right away.
The tool works best on PDFs made by a computer. Examples are bank and card statements, invoices, price lists and reports exported from other software, where each column is clearly separated from the next.
What we tested and how
We ran the free tier in desktop Chromium on 2026-11-01. We used 15 test cases, and all 15 passed.
One case was a typical file. It gave 15 rows in both text and XLSX output. The other cases were edge cases and limit checks.
The edge cases covered file names: a very long name, extra spaces with an emoji, and Korean and Japanese characters. They also covered odd files: a 1-byte PDF, a password-protected PDF, a JPEG renamed to look like a PDF, a PDF with pages of different sizes, a PDF in seven scripts, a scanned image-only PDF, a cut-off PDF and an empty 0-byte PDF. The limit checks covered file size, file count and page count.
What happened with the difficult files
Odd file names did not cause trouble. The long name, the emoji with extra spaces, and the Korean and Japanese name all gave 15 rows. The PDF with pages of different sizes also gave 15 rows. The PDF with Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Hindi, Thai and Russian text gave 50 rows.
Bad files were refused with a clear message instead of a broken result. A password-protected PDF showed: "This PDF is locked. Unlock it in your PDF reader, save an unlocked copy, then add that copy." The 1-byte file and the renamed JPEG showed that the file "is not really a PDF: its contents are in a different format, so it was not added." A cut-off file showed: "This file is not a valid PDF or it is damaged." The empty file showed that it "is empty (0 bytes), so it was not added."
A scanned PDF gave this message: "This PDF has no text to copy: it is probably a scan. Read it with the free image to text tool first." A scan is a picture, so there is no table text to pull out.
Limits of the free version and when to use something else
The free limits are 25 MB per file, one PDF at a time and 50 pages. A batch 1 MB over the size limit was refused: "the limit is 25 MB." When we chose 2 files, the tool said "The free version converts one PDF at a time, so only the first one you chose was used." A 51-page PDF was stopped with: "The free version converts up to 50 pages: split it with the free split PDF tool first."
This tool is not the right choice for scans, because it cannot read them. Run them through the free image to text tool first, then paste the text into your spreadsheet.
Check the preview on tricky layouts. A cell whose text wraps onto a second line may come out as an extra row. Tables with merged cells or text running between columns also need a quick check. Merge or fix these by hand in the preview or in Excel.
We re-run these tests when the tool changes. Results describe this tool on the date shown.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q. Do I need to sign up to convert a PDF to Excel?
No. The tool needs no sign-up and no email, and it adds no watermark. You can convert as many PDFs as you like, one at a time, up to 50 pages each.
Q. Why was my PDF not added?
In our tests the tool refused files that were locked with a password, empty, damaged, not really PDFs, or over 25 MB. It also refused PDFs with 51 pages. Each refusal came with a message that says what to do next.
Q. Can it convert a scanned PDF?
No. A scan is a picture with no text to copy. The tool tells you to read it with the free image to text tool first, then paste the text into your spreadsheet.
