How to Write and Publish a Book With AI

Last updated By Avalon

We have taken several nonfiction ebooks from a blank page to a store listing with AI doing most of the work. These pages are about the process, step by step.

What this topic covers

Writing a book with AI is not one prompt. It is a chain of smaller jobs: picking a topic people already search for, building an outline, drafting chapters, editing for accuracy and voice, designing a cover, formatting the files, and writing the store listing. Each job has its own prompts and its own failure points.

The guides here walk through that chain in the order we run it, with the time each step takes and the checks we would not skip.

What we have learned so far

  • The outline decides the book. A weak outline produces a long, repetitive draft no matter how good the writing model is.
  • Editing takes longer than drafting. Most of the time goes into checking facts, cutting repetition and making chapters sound like one author.
  • The listing is part of the book. Title, subtitle, description and categories decide whether anyone finds it.
