Free Crop Image to Square, 4:5 or 16:9, in Bulk

Last updated By Avalon

Crop photos to square, 4:5, 3:4, 2:3, 9:16, 16:9 or 1.91:1 from the center, many at once, ready for Instagram, YouTube and profile pictures.

Your images never leave your device. Cropping happens in your browser, so nothing is uploaded to a server.

    What this tool does

To crop images for free, drop them above, pick a shape such as square or 16:9 and press Crop images: every image is trimmed evenly from the center to that shape, with no sign-up and no watermark. It is made for batches, such as product photos that all need to be square, or a set of pictures for a 4:5 Instagram carousel.

    How to use it

    1. Drop your images into the box above, or click it to choose them.
    2. Pick a shape under Crop to.
    3. Leave Size after cropping at 100 percent to keep every pixel of the cropped area, or lower it for smaller files.
    4. Choose a format under Save as if you want to change it.
    5. Press Crop images, then download each file or press Download all.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I crop an image to a square for free?

Drop your images above, leave Crop to on Square 1:1 and press Crop images. Each image is trimmed evenly from the center to a square, with no sign-up and no watermark.

Which part of the photo is kept?

The middle. The tool keeps the largest area of the shape you chose from the center of each photo and trims the same amount from both sides, or from the top and bottom.

Can I choose the exact area to keep?

Not in this tool: it crops every image from the center, which is what makes cropping many images at once quick. For one photo where the subject is off-center, crop it in your phone's photo editor.

Can I crop and resize at the same time?

Yes. Size after cropping keeps 100 percent of the pixels by default; type a smaller number to make the cropped images smaller. For exact pixel sizes, use our free image resizer.

    Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The images are cropped inside your browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to our servers.

How many images can I crop at once?

Up to 30 images per batch, free. Avalon Pro takes up to 500 at once and adds a ZIP download, saved presets, your own file names and an optional watermark.
